Want to find the Warden mob in Minecraft? This strong mob can be found in Ancient Cities in the deep dark biome and summoned using sculk shriekers. The Warden is meant to be avoided rather than fought, but it is possible to defeat it. Here's how to find the Warden in Minecraft and how to fight it in Bedrock and Java.

Finding the Warden Mob in Minecraft

To find the Warden in Minecraft, look for deep dark biomes underneath mountains. Once you're in the deep dark, look for sculk blocks and trip the sensor three times. On the third time, the Warden will be summoned. The Warden is blind, so be sure to crouch to sneak around!

  1. As the name suggests, deep dark biomes can be found very deep underground. If you're having trouble finding the deep dark, look for cave entrances underneath mountains. If you dig around enough under these mountainous areas, you should be able to locate the deep dark biome and/or an Ancient City .
    • The deep dark generates the most underneath stony peaks, jagged peaks, frozen peaks, snowy slopes, and groves. [1]
  2. 2
Find sculk sensors and sculk shriekers. Sculk sensors are dark turquoise blocks that broadcast any nearby sound, such as footsteps, tool usage, etc. Sculk shriekers are similar, except they take the signal from sensors and emit a shrieking sound.
    • Be sure to crouch as you explore so you don't alert the Warden before you're ready.

Set off the sculk shrieker three times. When the sculk shrieker is set off three times, the Warden spawns. This counts for all sensors and shriekers nearby; it doesn't have to be the same two sets. One set counts as one warning; you have three warnings until the Warden is summoned.
    • You'll know the sculk sensor picks up sound when the four tentacle-like appendages on top of the block turn into a lighter color and start wiggling. When the sculk shrieker receives the sound, you'll hear a loud shrieking sound and see green sonar waves above the block.
    • All sound must be made within 8 blocks to pass through the sensor, and then within 8 more blocks to pass through the shrieker.
  4. 4
Look for the Warden. Once the three warnings are up, the Warden will spawn somewhere close by. Be very careful; if you set off another sculk shrieker, the Warden will spawn again in a new location.
    • The Warden is blind and can't see you, but it can hear and smell you. Try crouching to sneak away to a safe spot. Due to the Warden's high health and powerful attacks, it's recommended to avoid the Warden rather than fight it. However, even though it's difficult, it's still possible. See the next section for tips to fight the Warden .

How to Fight the Warden in Minecraft

  1. 1
Understand the Warden's attacks. The Warden has a melee attack and a ranged attack.
    • Melee attack: Depending on difficulty, this attack deals 8 to 22.5 hearts of health.
    • Ranged attack: If the target is out of the Warden's range but within 15 blocks horizontally and 20 blocks vertically, the Warden releases a sonic boom. This only happens if it's been 10 seconds since the target was detected and 5 seconds since the last attack was used. This attack goes through walls and other mobs and hits instantly. Only the Resistance status can reduce the damage taken; shields, armor , enchantments , and blocks have no effect.
  2. 2
Use wool blocks. Wool has a dampening effect on sculk sensors and shriekers. If you place down wool blocks and walk on them, your footsteps won't alert any nearby sensors. If you don't have a lot of wool, you can opt to cover the sides and top of the sculk sensors or shriekers to stop the connection.
  3. 3
Destroy the extra sensors and shriekers. If you want to fight the Warden, try to find all the other shriekers and sensors and destroy them before your battle. Be sure to leave one set to summon the Warden. This prevents the Warden from being summoned more than necessary as you move around.
    • Use a hoe to quickly mine the sensor and shrieker blocks.
  4. 4
Use the Potion of Night Vision. This potion allows you to see in the dark, which is helpful if you're navigating Ancient Cities in the deep dark biome.
  5. 5
Run away to regroup or heal. The Warden is a slow-moving mob; if you run and put 20 blocks of distance between you and the Warden, it will lose track of you momentarily. Use this time to heal as much as you can before it finds you again.

What is the Warden in Minecraft?

  1. This mob relies on sound and smell as it is completely blind. If you're within 15 blocks of the Warden, it can hear any movement you make. If you're completely still within the Warden's range, it will eventually sniff you out and deal an immense amount of damage to you, which typically kills you in one hit.
    • The Warden deals the strongest melee damage of all the mobs in the game. It has a health of 250 hearts and can inflict up to 22.5 hearts of damage per hit.
    • The Warden can also inflict Darkness on nearby players. Darkness is a status effect that temporarily obscures the player's vision.
    • A Minecraft developer has said the Warden should be avoided rather than fought. [2]
