Gray check marks on WhatsApp tell you when your message has been sent and delivered. Two blue ticks mean the recipient has read your message. Some WhatsApp ticks may not turn blue if you or the recipient has Read Receipts turned off. This feature must be enabled on both sides to show the two blue check marks. Things You Should Know

To get blue ticks on WhatsApp, go to "Settings" → "Privacy" → toggle on "Read Receipts."
Both you and the recipient must have Read Receipts turned on to see blue check marks.
One gray mark means "sent," two gray marks mean "delivered," and two blue marks mean "read."
