Not having sound on your computer can be very frustrating to someone who is not computer adept. Before you throw you computer out the window or take it to a professional, try some of these steps.

Things You Should Know

  • Consider testing your computer's audio with pair of speakers or headphones plugged in.
  • Double-check that you have not muted your computer.
  • If you still do not have sound, it is possible that your sound card drivers have been deleted.

  2. This is probably one of the most common reasons for no sound coming out of your speakers. Unmute is usually found at the bottom right of your computer screen and looks like a speaker with a X through it.

  3. Check the connections on the back or front of the computer. Also, some speakers require a power source, so make sure that it is connected to a power outlet and connected to the speakers.
