High blood calcium levels, or hypercalcemia, can lead to serious complications, including bone, kidney, brain, and heart issues. If your level is high, your provider may ask you to avoid antacids and supplements that contain calcium, limit calcium-rich foods in your diet, and drink more water. Typically, high calcium levels are related to overactive parathyroid glands.   1. If your blood calcium levels are high, your doctor will likely instruct you to limit the amount of calcium you consume. The first step is to stop taking any supplements, antacids, or other over-the-counter products that contain calcium. [2]
