In Windows, you can insert a heart symbol using a special Alt code with your numeric pad. If your computer doesn't have a numeric pad, you can use the on-screen keyboard. You can also use the built-in emoji keyboard. Here's how to make the heart symbol using a computer running Windows or Mac.
Typing a Heart on a Computer
To make a heart on Windows, press Alt + 3 on the number pad. You can also copy and paste this symbol (♥) or (♡) into another website or app.
Steps

Highlight the heart ♥ or ♡ . You can drag your cursor from the beginning of the heart to the end.

Right-click the heart and select Copy . On Mac, you'll need to control-click . You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + C (Windows) or CMD + C (Mac) to copy.
- This will copy the heart to your computer's clipboard.

Right-click another field and select Paste . On Mac, you'll need to control-click. You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + V (Windows) or CMD + V (Mac) to paste.
- The heart will be pasted in the new field.

Open a webpage or text app. You'll need a place where you can insert text, like Microsoft Word or Notepad .

- The Emoji keyboard will pop up.

Click the heart category. This is at the bottom-right corner.

Click a heart emoji . You'll see all available heart colors.
- This will add the heart emoji immediately to the text field.

Press ⌘ Cmd + Ctrl + Space . The Emoji keyboard will pop up.

Click Symbols . This is in the second tab from the left.
- You can also type "heart" into the search field to find your options.

Click a heart emoji. You'll see all available heart colors.
- This will add the heart emoji immediately to the text field.

Enable the numeric keypad. Click the Options key on the right side of the on-screen keyboard. Check the box for Turn on numeric keypad and click OK .

Click Options . This is on the right side.

Click NumLock . The button should be highlighted blue. If it's already blue, skip this step.

Click Alt + 3 . Use your mouse to click the Alt and 3 on the on-screen keyboard.
- This is the 3 on the numeric keypad on the right.
- The black heart (♥) will be typed.
