My computer shows a blue screen with lots of writing on it. After a few seconds it switches off and won't go back on. What could the problem be?

You most likely received a blue screen error (often called the "blue screen of death", or BSOD), which is a fatal error meaning, your computer has received an error that cannot allow the computer or operating system to perform. Take a note of memory addresses (such as 0x01234abcd) and any other error codes or indicators shown. With these addresses and codes, you'll have to research online to figure out a possible solution. Many BSOD errors are difficult to resolve without replacing computer parts and can come and go. If you cannot fix the problem yourself, then you'll have to consult a PC technician or look at replacing your system.

My computer says it is repairing disk error. This may take over an hour to complete. The repair started 8 hours ago. Anything I can do to correct this problem?

Turn off the computer, boot into your Windows Setup CD, open a command prompt in the setup CD (Shift+F10), then type this command: ::Command starts here chkdsk c: /spotfix ::Command ends here This will fix and repair disk issues based on the number of corruptions (only takes a few minutes).
