For rings, I would truly advise to spend a little more. Now, you can always pay more for the same thing, there is always a more expensive version. But quality does not keep increasing, at some point, you just pay more for the same quality. The same is true at the other end, you can't expect the same minimum level of quality and pay less. If you're in doubt about the quality of the ring, pay a little more to make sure you at least hit the minimum level of quality.
