Your parents will probably be proud that you are taking initiative and cleaning your room yourself. However, you may want to consult them before getting rid of clothes.

You can sell name brand clothes that are in excellent condition. Clothes that are not name brand or have rips, tears and/or stains won't sell. Ask your donation center if they will take them, as some sell damaged clothing on a per-pound basis to countries overseas.

If they say no, don’t hassle them about it, maybe ask for a part of your desired wardrobe as it gets closer to winter, they will want to ensure that you have the most appropriate clothing for each season.

Look through everything you have, and ask yourself, are these too small for me? Are they too big? Will I use them again? Do I really like them still? The answers can help motivate you to make needed changes. Try to stick with your cupboard and don't overstuff it. If you have things folded up, try to keep folding things up as you put them away.
