Mop and Glo is a floor-cleaning product that is designed to add shine to a surface. Each time you use the liquid, it distributes a waxy film over the surface. Over time, it can cause the floor to lose its luster. In fact, it is not recommended for some floors because of the buildup. It is a good idea to wipe up the product from time to time, using cleaning products designed for your hardwood, linoleum or laminate flooring.

      Tips

      • Wood floors that have many layers of Mop and Glo on them might require more serious methods. If the wax has hardened over decades, use a damp towel and an iron to loosen the film, and then scrape it up with a plastic scraper. This is only recommended when absolutely necessary, since steam can damage some hardwood floors. [3]
      • The vinegar method also works well on linoleum. You can use more of the solution, since vinyl flooring can withstand water on its surface.
