Take a Screenshot on a Samsung S23
Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time, then let go. Alternatively, tell Bixby or Google Assistant to take a screenshot, swipe your palm over the screen, use the S Pen, or try Smart Selection.

Simultaneously press the Volume Down and Power buttons quickly. They are both located on the right side of your phone. The Power button is also known as the Power or Side button.
- Your screen will flash, and you'll hear a camera shutter if your sound is enabled.
- You will see a thumbnail of your picture at the bottom of your phone's screen.

2Find your screenshot. A pop-up will appear at the bottom of the screen containing a thumbnail of your screenshot. You can tap the thumbnail to view your screenshot. You can also find your screenshots in the Gallery in the Screenshots album.
- You can also find editing tools in the menu at the bottom of the screen. You can use these tools to edit and mark up your screenshot.

Make sure the gesture is enabled. To do so, go to Settings and search palm swipe to capture . Once there, ensure the toggle is on (blue and pointing to the right).

Move your palm from right to left over your phone. Your palm should be in a karate-chop position with your pinky facing down towards the phone's screen as you swipe from the right side of the screen to the left.
- The screen will flash once to indicate that it has captured the screen.

Find your screenshot. A window will pop up at the bottom of the screen that you can tap to see your screen capture. You can also find your screenshots in the Gallery in the Screenshots album.

Make sure you have Bixby Voice or Google Assistant set up. You can start Bixby and set up the voice assistant's features by pressing the Side button. If the functionality of the Side button was changed, find and change the Side button again to summon Bixby so you can set it up. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Side key to return the Bixby functionality of the Side button.
- If you prefer to use Google Assistant , open the Google app and enable "Hey Google" in your settings.

Say "Hey Bixby" or "Hey Google" and "Take a screenshot." The screen will flash when it has captured what's on the screen.

Remove the S Pen from the bottom of your phone. If you have an S23 Ultra, you have the S Pen stylus to write, draw, and control your phone without your finger.

1Remove your S Pen. If you are using a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, you can use Smart Select to take a screenshot. Start by removing the S Pen.

2Tap the pencil icon. It should appear on the left or right side of your screen when you remove the S Pen. This displays a menu.

- Using Smart Select is the only way to capture a portion of your screen before taking a screenshot. You can edit the screenshots using other methods to crop the section of the picture that you want.

4Tap a Smart Select tool. Use Rectangle, Lasso, Oval, or GIF to capture your entire screen or only a portion.

6Tap the Save icon. It's the icon that resembles a square with an arrow pointing down. It's at the bottom of the screen. This saves a screenshot of your selection.

Tap and hold the Scroll Capture icon. The Scroll Capture icon looks like a chevron pattern (or an arrowhead pointing downwards.) It's on the menu that pops up at the bottom of the screen after you take a screenshot. Tapping the Scroll Capture icon once scrolls your screen down a page and includes that next page in your screenshot. This is good for screen capturing a social media feed or message thread.
