Take a Screenshot on a Samsung S23

Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time, then let go. Alternatively, tell Bixby or Google Assistant to take a screenshot, swipe your palm over the screen, use the S Pen, or try Smart Selection.

  1. To do so, go to Settings and search palm swipe to capture . Once there, ensure the toggle is on (blue and pointing to the right).
  2. Your palm should be in a karate-chop position with your pinky facing down towards the phone's screen as you swipe from the right side of the screen to the left.

Using Voice Commands

  1. You can start Bixby and set up the voice assistant's features by pressing the Side button. If the functionality of the Side button was changed, find and change the Side button again to summon Bixby so you can set it up. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Side key to return the Bixby functionality of the Side button.
    • If you prefer to use Google Assistant , open the Google app and enable "Hey Google" in your settings.

Using Smart Select

    Remove your S Pen. If you are using a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, you can use Smart Select to take a screenshot. Start by removing the S Pen.

    Tap the pencil icon. It should appear on the left or right side of your screen when you remove the S Pen. This displays a menu.

Take a Scrolling Screenshot

  1. Use any of the methods described above to capture the screen.
    • This is how you can screenshot an entire website instead of only what's on your screen.
  2. The Scroll Capture icon looks like a chevron pattern (or an arrowhead pointing downwards.) It's on the menu that pops up at the bottom of the screen after you take a screenshot. Tapping the Scroll Capture icon once scrolls your screen down a page and includes that next page in your screenshot. This is good for screen capturing a social media feed or message thread.
  3. You can hold the Scroll Capture icon until your phone captures the entire webpage or until you've captured as much of the page as you want.
