This wikiHow teaches you how to use Reddit’s RemindMeBot to remind you of a thread in the future. Using the bot is both quick and easy! You can set the time you want to be reminded, and add an optional message.

Things You Should Know

  • RemindMeBot sends you a private message reminder for a specific Reddit post.
  • Comment RemindMe! Tomorrow “reply to this thread” on a thread you want to be reminded about.
  • You can change the time period and message as needed. The message is optional.
  1. Go to https://www.reddit.com . This will bring you to Reddit’s homepage.
    • If you haven’t yet signed in, sign in now.
    • If you’re just getting started, check out this general guide to using Reddit .
    • This method also works for the Reddit mobile app. If using the app, open it now.
  2. This opens the contents of the thread.
    • To use RemindMeBot, the thread must be active (not archived).

  3. It’s at the bottom of the thread above the comments section.
    • On the mobile app, tap the Add a comment box at the bottom of the screen when viewing a thread.
  4. RemindMe! Tomorrow “reply to this thread”. The syntax for RemindMeBot is RemindMe! [TIME] “[MESSAGE]” . [1] In this case, you’re telling RemindMeBot to send you a message tomorrow with the text “reply to this thread.” It will also contain a link to the thread. This is just one example of how to use RemindMeBot.
    • There are other ways to input the time other than tomorrow. Try One Year , August 27th, 2018 , at 6pm , EOY (end of year), and 15 minutes .
    • You can also use RemindMeBot to remind yourself of certain days in history, such as the anniversary of a particular Reddit thread, or on a post about a Redditor’s birthday.
    • Don't forget to use quotes " around the message. Also, adding the quoted message is optional.
    • Replace RemindMe! with RemindMeRepeat! to get a recurring message. The time needs to be a set period rather than a date. For example, “1 day” or “Tuesday.” [2]
  5. It’s beneath the comment box. This adds your comment to the thread, and alerts RemindMeBot to set up your automated message.
    • In just a moment, RemindMeBot will respond to your post, confirming the date and time of the reminder.
    • If you want to delete the RemindMe! post from the thread, click delete this message to hide from others at the bottom of the confirmation.
  6. If you set a reminder for tomorrow, click the bell icon on the top bar of Reddit in 24 hours from the moment you made the post. You’ll see a message from RemindMeBot that contains a link to the thread, as well as your reminder text.
  7. Now you can see any updates or new comments that have been added to the post.
  8. After setting up your reminder, you can send a private message to RemindMeBot to view or change your reminders. [3]

    Expert Answer
You don't need to add a message, it's an optional feature. Adding the message can be a good way to remember what you wanted to be reminded about, especially if the reminder is in the distant future!
