This wikiHow teaches you how to sign out of your Gmail account on any computer, phone, or tablet. Because your Gmail account is integrated with the rest of your Google account, signing out of Gmail also signs you out of other Google apps and services. But don't worry—you can sign back in at any time.

How to Sign Out of Gmail

  1. Open Gmail in your web browser.
  2. Click your photo icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select Sign Out at the bottom of the menu.

    • This method works if you are only signed in to one Gmail account on your computer.
  2. It's the circle on the top-right side of the page. If you don't have a profile photo, you'll see your first initial here instead. A drop-down menu will appear.

    Click Sign out at the bottom of the menu. This logs you out of Gmail in this web browser.
    • Google Chrome users only: You'll see a message that says "Your bookmarks, history, passwords, and more are no longer being synced to your account." This is because Gmail is integrated with the browser. Click Continue to confirm, and keep in mind that your Google account is no longer syncing to your other devices as long as you stay signed out.
  4. If you don't want to keep your account name on the Gmail sign-in screen, click Remove an account , and then click the red minus sign next to your name. To confirm, click Yes, remove .

Google will list all of the devices where your Google account is signed in, split up by device type (such as Windows computers, Mac computers, Android phones, iPhones, smart TVs, gaming consoles, and more). Next to each device type, the specific device model will be listed.
    • When you click or tap on a device, Google may ask you to sign in to verify your identity.

    Click or tap Sign out . Clicking or tapping on a device will show details about the device, as well as when you first and last signed in using that device. The Sign out button is located under all of that information.
    • After clicking or tapping Sign out , click or tap Sign out again to confirm your choice.
    • You may be notified that a third-party app still has access to your account on that device. Click or tap OK to close out of the message, or click or tap Manage app access to remotely revoke app access with your Google account.
