I guess this is the place for this since it is a help question. When I try to archive my talk page I get an error that tells me: “Invalid posting. Your posting contains more than the maximum number of allowed URLs.” I’ve asked a couple of others and they ended up being able to archive it, but they can’t tell me why I run into this or how to get around it. I didn’t know there was a maximum number of URLs allowed in a talk page. I have previous archived pages with more URLs than there are on the one I now have, and this is giving me the stink-eye. So the question is: What’s with this? Why does it keep popping up and how do I get around it?

Some one once told me that if I played around with something long enough I’d either end up fixing it or breaking it. I usually ended up breaking it, but this time it looks like I put it in the right place. It seems to be working.

I’ve gotten this one too. I think the limit is something like 2 or 3 exlinks per edit. Workarounds is either to move it over in smaller chunks using several edits or to break a few of the urls until you’re under the limit.

I got this error once and was told it is because one of the links was triggering the spam blacklist. Not that I can say I really understand the spam blacklist… If this is the case however, I don’t know how you would find out which link causes the problem.

When you trip the spam blacklist you get this error message telling you which url it didn’t like.

Anyway, it’s good you archived. A blacklisted link on your talkpage means that nobody can leave you a message until it gets removed and newer users may not know how to, or that they’re allowed to, edit other people’s comments to do so.
