I was doing NFD guardian when I came across this article : http://www.wikihow.com/Handle-a-New-Article-in-RC-Patrol ^That article is not nominated for deletion, yet it appears in the NFD guardian : http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t630/Shinako99/ad_zpsd0ada503.png No reason appeared so when I clicked few buttons, I realised that it is not NFD’ed. Is this a bug?

I think it’s just an unfortunate side effect of the article having explanatory nfd templates in it:slight_smile:Now that you’ve removed it from the tool, it shouldn’t go back in. I might be wrong but I also think that using {{temp|nfd}} rather than {{nfd}} would stop similar ones from going in in future. Either way, it should be ok now! Thanks Shina!

This was an “oops” on my end, and I apologize for it. Thank you for doing those fixes, Anna!

Oh no worries at all, Ad. I’m not even sure that using the “temp” versions avoids the problem. Hopefully but we’ll see in future:slight_smile:Thumbs up to Shina and Jordan for voting to keep:slight_smile:

Didn’t you remember that there was also an HTML tag that you could have used in front and in back of the template, to avoid using the temp version of the template @Adelaide1230 ? It was explained in http://www.wikihow.com/Type-a-wikiHow-Template-on-an-Article-(Without-Triggering-the-Template-to-Run) .

Thank you for informing me about the nowiki template, @Byankno1 . No, I hadn’t considered that, but I’ll modify the article with that fix. I hope you don’t mind, @Anna !

Good that the confusion is now resolved! @Anna , I have had other doubt – I’ll ask in this thread itself. As you can see, near the author, her edits appearing show only 91 edits, but as far as I remember, she has more than that. Any explanation for that?

@Adelaide1230 - the nowiki tags are what you had in there before, actually! Nowiki stops the full template itself from displaying in the article, but it doesn’t stop the article from displaying in NFD Guardian or NFD Advanced. For example, now that you’ve changed the templates, it’s showing up in NFD Advanced. I doubt anyone will do anything with it in that list, since it’s clearly a keeper, but if you go back to the {{temp|nfd}} versions, it should be removed from that list. @Shinako Weird about the edit count! There could be something funky happening in particular with this article, since it had multiple NFD tags in it and the <nowiki> part; I’m not sure how any of that might affect the tool’s behavior. But if you see the same thing with any future articles/editors, please let us know with more screenshots. If we see it being a recurring problem, I can file a bug report. Thanks!!</nowiki>

@Anna I’ve noticed that edit count bug previously too. Maybe it is getting the number of articles written by the author instead of number of edits by the author. Adelaide has written over 100 articles…maybe that article was her 91st? (And thus the NFD guardian shows 91).

I’ve seen like 2 or 3 articles from her, and all the times the edit count is 91…

@Guarangprasad and @Shinako I think the edit count there is based on main namespace edits (so it’s a little different from contribution count on a user’s page). Obviously, Adelaide’s example is still off, 'cause she’s done more than 91 main namespace edits! But I was going through the NFD Guardian trying to find further examples and didn’t come across any - the others I found seemed accurate to the main namespace edit count for each user (i.e. not image uploads, talk/discussion posts, etc - just main namespace edits). But if you guys could keep an eye out for this over time and take screenshots of any that are off if you do see them, that’d be awesome (and I’ll do the same!). If we can get another example or two to go along with Adelaide’s, I can file a bug report to get a fix! Thanks for your help!

That was actually my 145th article. Also, I have over 91 edits…I’m not sure why the NFD Guardian says that I have 91. (And, how could I be a New Article Booster with only 91 edits…when there is the 300 contribution requirement?) It could be a bug with the edit count, as you mentioned. If needed, one of our staff can file a bug report.

I changed those back. Thank you! http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Handle-a-New-Article-in-RC-Patrol&diff=12246685&oldid=12241691
