So the WelcomeBot uses the last admin/booster who made an edit. My last edit was on 21:51, December 25, 2013 when I replied to a talk page message. However, having been notified by email for new talk page messages, I’ve noticed my account has been recently used to welcome people despite my last edit being on the 25th. Here are 2 examples (the only ones I could find atm): http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Naveen-Manimaran http://www.wikihow.com/User_talk:Rini-Ann-Jerin Obviously, other admins/boosters have edited after me, so why is this happening?

Originally the welcomebot was supposed to use the last admin/booster who made an edit. When we implemented Wikia’s code for this, though, it turned out to be more complex than that. Roughly, it uses the name of someone who has edited relatively recently, but it’s not as time-sensitive as we’d hoped. It shouldn’t do this too often; if it does pose an issue, though, my suggestion would be to opt out in your preferences, since we’re probably not going to have the engineer time to fix this anytime soon. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!:frowning:

@Krystle No worries about the engineers not being able to look into it. I don’t see it as that big of an issue anyways. It just struck me as a bit odd since I’ve been welcoming people since mid-2012 and never had this happen. Thanks for the reply, though!
