I’ve tried on several occasions on two different computers over a span of two days. Each time I try to edit the file, I keep getting an edit conflict. Is there a database lock? If so, can someone kick it? Thanks

Mike, there’s no spam block on the page, I just checked. Were you adding any kind of link when you edited the page? Some links trigger a special spam filter that looks for non-link spam words. That’s probably what was happening. Can you try doing a test edit, by just adding a single word? See if that goes through?

You might be right about the link trigger. Here’s what I’m trying to write:

Inserting text without urls seems fine. Should goo.gl be added to the whitelist?

The spammers we block with the non-link spam filter always use link shortening services; keeping them blacklisted helps to prevent mischief-makers from disguising bad links in a way that isn’t obvious to patrollers. Are you able to use full links here? If not, I can remove goo.gl from the list for the time being.

well, I can, but most Google map links are so long. Perhaps a better error message then. Instead of saying, “There is an edit conflict”, could it say, “Your post contains links that are blacklisted”? is there a way to white-list google-specific links? For example, http://goo.gl/maps/* will always go to a google map.

There’s no whitelist for this particular blacklist, as it searches for any instance of the blocked text. I’ve removed goo.gl for now, so you should be able to add the links back in.

Chris, you can add it back. I already made the edit with the long url.

Ok, will do. Thanks for the heads up, Mike!
