I don’t actually know if it will really be necessary or not, but an Offline/Online indicator on a user’s user page would be useful, especially if a user wants to leave a message on an admin’s talk page and get a (somewhat) quick reply.

There’s a few ways you could already do this: 1. There’s a recent activity widget on the right of all user’s pages. 2. Check the recent changes. 3. Scroll to the bottom of their page and click on ‘User has made number contributions to wikiHow’. Click on contributions to see all there recent contributions (this includes rc patrol and talk messages left). Hope that helps!
Well, I would think that an indicator of whether they were online or not would simplify this process.
I have a feeling that would cause backup problems. Nick has good tips

@Hasbeen400
I think this could be cool
, but not necessary
. If you knew about MediaWiki programming, you’d know its not too easy to easily make stuff like this. Unless:

I would love to see an online indicator!
Would “online” mean “on wikiHow” or just online in general?

Online in general would be really
creepy. I was thinking online as in on wikiHow.
I’m not very good at programming, so what am I supposed to do?

Oh no, there’s nothing you can do. If staff agrees with this maybe @Lojjik
@Reuben
@Jordan
or someone like that could add it. But I doubt it. XD It’s a nice thought though.
If we are discussing this, then I would like to request for one more feature, of a search tab or text box for users like in facebook. If I want to send a message to someone here, I will search their name and reach their userpage. I think I found a link with anna’s help for that but I dont know how well it works. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=advanced&search=&fulltext=Search&ns2=1&ns3=1&profile=advanced
