This article needs split into a total of 5 articles. 4 new ones and retitle the article. Anyone want to try ? http://www.wikihow.com/Avoid-Rape-at-Different-Places

… I guess I’ll try, nothing to lose really, I was just going to patrol!:wink:June Days I’ll do the first one-At home. Got it done, and removed it.:slight_smile:I suggest that the street part, be its own article, and we’ll take care of the others. The party part, is already its own article.:slight_smile:I just checked: http://www.wikihow.com/Avoid-Being-Carjacked . I think this article is the car one, it has the same info, just a different title.

Made another article, and deleted everything else. (Except the street!) Noting on the discussion page about the name change.:slight_smile:June Days

OK, I made a mistake, the how to not get carjacked is nothing like the car rape. Writing that article, then we’ll be done!:slight_smile:June Days

Thanks for doing the split, but I don’t think these “free” articles are quite free. I hope that someone will take the time to research the split off articles and improve their accuracy. In particular, neither the “at home” nor the “at work” articles addresses the very likely possibility that the person will not be a stranger. Also, the tip about carrying pepper spray needs a very strong warning attached. It does not make one invincible, and it is very possible to misuse it.

We had this discussion in IRC, but I think some of the points I made therein deserve bringing up here as well.

Indeed. In the United Kingdom, 89% of rapes are committed by people who were known to the victim in some capacity (current or former partners, family, friends, etc). Thus, if the articles don’t tell you to identify and avoid high-risk people that you know then it is massively deficient.

I want to double-emphasise this. Carrying a weapon of any kind, if it is legal in your jurisdiction, brings with it a corresponding duty to: 1) Only use it in situations where using such a weapon is justified, by which I mean you’d better be really sure that person was actually intending to cause you serious harm and that you have not simply misunderstood someone’s intentions, and 2) Not to get into those situations in the first place . Put bluntly: Carrying a weapon is a dangerous thing for the foolish and immature. It gives said people a false sense of I’m a badass and nobody can touch me just let those fuckers try it which causes them to get into dangerous situations that could easily have been avoided. Both of those things make the stuff about situational awareness (spotting and avoiding dangerous people and dangerous situations which should be the core of those articles) much more important .

Great opportunity to wiki an article!

And never go in a dark alley with heels… Funny time’s over, what Lewis and Dvortygirl say is right, I should’ve done my research, and I will. As Lewis said in IRC, I’m going to ****** research my *** off, about rapes. And when I gather more info, I’ll put it in the articles. Thanks. June Days

The way you put it makes it sound like you’re going to do field research 0_o

Nope, just looking up things on the Internet, I learned an interesting fact, but I don’t which article to put in.:confused:June Days

:0==3 < whew That’s a relief. Anyway, nice job helping out - I wouldn’t know where to begin.

Aw, thanks! If you want to help out, um, I’ll ask on your talk page.:slight_smile:June Days
