I want to find out who wrote an article?
Also what is the purpose of writing wikiHow articles? Are people making money from this?
On wikiHow, it is not often that one person “writes” an article - that is, you will seldom find an established article that has not been worked on by multiple wikiHowians. We are a collaborative.
You can find out who started the article and also every wikiHowian who helped refine the article by clicking the co-authors icon at the top-right of the article. The details of each change to the article will be in the article history. It lists the edit description and the user who made the edit and shows, in bytes, how big the changes were, the date and time, and other data.

Also, to top off, people are not payed to write articles
@Blackcats-Awesome
- I am pretty sure that your statement is incorrect. Some individuals are paid to write, edit, program, and administer on wikiHow. As far as I know, some of the paid contributors are: editing fellows, WRM, wikiVisual team members, staff members, interns, and experts with advanced degrees. It might be more correct to say that volunteers do not receive cash compensation for their contributions. They are compensated in other ways, including rich experience, skill honing, and being a part of an amazing online community.
^ Yes, true, but this really isn’t the case for this user.
edit: As in, the user who is asking for help, not me
@Blackcats-Awesome
- It would be more appropriate to let the user know the ways in which she or he can be paid for editing. In any case, you should refrain from making incorrect or misleading statements. The fact is people are paid to write articles and anyone has a chance to join the ranks of paid writers if they are productive, competent, willing to move, and there is a current need at the haus.
Thanks everyone! Are authors/articles competing for views? If so why?
There really is not competition for views. The main thing is to help empower people around the world to do things that they could not do before or were uncertain about. Some topics are super-popular and get a lot of reads, but any article that helps improve others or the world is good.
Ok, thanks for the clarification!
