do writers get payed to write for wikihow?
No, they don’t. We editors just do this for fun. Closed?
thank you for your reply. i’m curious, why do so many writers submit articles here when there is no compensation?

Eaglecreek, wikiHow is a volunteer project. We all edit and write articles because we wantto and have the wantand desire of sharing knowledge with someone else. ( Also, @Livelifenails
, there’s no reason to request “Closed?” on threads like this
)

@Eaglecreek
, It’s a fair question. Many users simply like being a part of something bigger and want to help contribute something. Others stumble upon wikihow through an article and realize there’s a factual, grammatical, or spelling error and fix it. Then there others, like myself, who figured out how to do something the hard and long way and want to spare others the trouble of wasting hours of work. Everyone has their own reasons. You are free to do as much or as little as you like. Even administrators don’t get paid but still help out here because it’s fun and love to help. Wikihow does have a small staff, but the site is made possible by volunteers.
And remember, our goal is not to make as much money as possible, but to make the largest free
how-to site.
thank you all for your post. i had no idea how this worked and now i have a much better understanding.

Definitely a valid question. Lots of people that sign up for new accounts ask it right away.
Yup. Also, if you needed any help, we’re all glad to help!

None of us our paid (notice the spelling here) as we all want to freely share our knowledge with others. Some of our retired professional writers, some of our working writers, and some of us just love to write. I suspect we all take pride in sharing our knowledge and helping others.
You rang? I’m just going to assume good faith here, Eagle, and assume that you would not edit this site solely for compensation. You would then, of course, understand that wikiHow is about informing others of how to go about any reasonable action that requires explaining - ensuring your wisdom and insight reaches countless people, assisting a great resource under the freedom wikis have, and perhaps not only making this website more high-quality, but people’s lives as well. Those who are paid deserve to be paid. Those who are not need not be paid, but under certain circumstances they deserve it. All we have to give out is thanks; a little thanks here, however, can go a long way. Bah, I’ve got to stop coming out with surprise speeches.

Lol at the “you rang?”. But I agree with them. All of us just like providing information, or correcting grammatical errors. We all do it voluntarily, for free. Out mission is to help others by becoming the free, ultimate, top·notch, high quality, absolute best How to manual there is.
I’m not sure if it was him, I thought he had the other day but it had actually been bumped by a troller whos’ comment was deleted

Yeah, sorry. It was at the top of my list. That happened on another thread too. Some spammer posted something, his comment got deleted, still showed up at the top of my list.
Not quite. A better explanation wool ups have been:we are all volunteers here, and that we don’t get paid for any action we complete here. Case closed!

Ok, close thread?
Nicely put… Close discussion?
