Hi! I’ve just started noticing a new option called “Text Only” on some articles. Is this a new feature coming up? Here’s how it looks:
This is how the article looks with the mode off.
This is how the article looks with the mode on. I’m guessing, this is something new, and I support this!
Because, well, I don’t always want to see images. (But that’s just about me!) Anyone else, who’s seeing this?
Edit: I’m noticing, turning the mode on alters the URL. So if you don’t want to see the images, just use
?display_images=false
after the URL. For example, the URL is https://www.wikihow.com/Reduce Expenses
and you add ?display_images=false
at the end, the URL will become https://www.wikihow.com/Reduce Expenses?display_images=false
. That way, images will be hidden. Change that to https://www.wikihow.com/Reduce Expenses?display_images=true
to see the images again!
I’m a little confused, where I should post these sorts of things. Maybe the Village Pump isn’t the right place. In that case, please let me know so I can move this over to somewhere else.

Great catch! Gaurang let me know that this was just rolled out on 5% of articles (so hard to spot in the wild!) as a test. We’ll see how readers like it!
