When you click the Random Article link, there should be something to choose a category of a random article of that category, like there would be some kind of page that asks what category you choose, or maybe typing in the category. Then, a random article would appear, but from a specific category. If someone wanted any article no matter what category, there could be an option to choose any article. In the preferences, there could even be an option to choose if you want a category page, or not. What are your thoughts?

My thought is that I am just kind of confused----I have only been on wikiHow since Christmas Eve, so I wish I could help you, so hopefully someone else will comment and help you

@Hailey-Girges +1 That is a great idea and I support it. I am not sure where it might fall in the list of priorities, though.

Great idea! I’m in support of it too.

That defeats the purpose of Random Article…

Actually, it enhances the feature. True random from among all categories would still be available, but random from a single category and, potentially, from multiple categories might be available. Say you are interested in skiing, wine, hiking, and decorating for Christmas. Depending on how the filter was configured, you might get something of personal interest every time. Neat concept. Might drive readership a bit.

@Alabaster Isn’t that what Topic Greenhouse is for?

Topic greenhouse is when you edit articles in one category. Random article is just someone who wants to read a random article, but in this case, I think there should a category page for it. See my full suggestion above.

@Lutherus_Shyrilser , But it is a random topic within the category chosen I think Hailey means. Thanks for the idea Hailey. I am definitely in support of it!

Hey

@Anime guy If you want to say hello, please do it in the general chat category.
