The proposal has been adopted by a vote of 30 for, 4 ambivalent, 5 against and is now wikiHow policy. See my post later on in this thread. The original post is included below verbatim for historical reference. ------ Voting on the recent talk page policy proposal is now open, as one week of discussion has elapsed. The proposal itself can be found here: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Policy-Proposals/Talk-Page-Policy
I’ve reproduced it here:
When voting, please indicate whether you support the proposal, whether you are not completely in favor of it but could live with it, or whether you are opposed to the proposal. Please place all votes on the proposal page. Feel free to discuss votes in the forums but votes made only there will not count in the official final tally. Voting will last for one week, until this time (1:20 PM EDT/17:20 UTC) on Tuesday, September 4th. Votes after this time will not be counted.
Zoe Volt comes back for the first time in 3 years just to vote on the talk page policy, whoa
Voting on the talk page policy is now closed. 39 users voted on this proposal. 30 (approximately 77%) were in favor, 5 didn’t completely support it but could live with it (approximately 13%), 4 (approximately 10%) were opposed. As per our guidelines for amending policy and achieving consensus ( http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Amending-Policy-and-Achieving-Consensus
), with more than 75% of voters in favor and less than 15% opposed the ayes have it, and the proposal is now wikiHow policy.
Just to step away from the parliamentary procedure and formality, I’m going to be going to class soon but I’m going to reflect all of the changes and add the Talk Page Policy to our policy list later today.
I encourage all of you guys to really take enforcement of this as slowly as possible. Please talk to contributors about the new policy and give them time to edit things themselves (which also gives them a chance to add a border or other feature to “spice up” their userpage). If you see this, though, please change your own talk page. Manually changing someone’s talk page should be a last-ditch option which we only need to be doing if absolutely necessary. After a short time where we have to get talk pages changed, the culture of decorating talk pages will end, and enforcement is going to be a piece of cake.
oops. sorry, wrong sticker.
^ Yup, looks like it’ll be a nail-biter.
Thanks to this talk page policy, I can now read talk pages with ease ,without stressing my eye’s ! Kudos to all the eye’s !
Zoe Volt? She was in IRC last night…Thought she was just another person who found #wikiHow

Just a reminder that if this policy is passed, we’d need to go through the page designer templates like {{Page Design Invite}}, {{Page Design Help}} and {{WikiArt}} and remove the information regarding talkpage designing. I’m not sure if there are any other templates/UIBs that would need to be changed as well. Also, the new policy would affect the mission of User:DMc2811/WikiArt (although I’m not sure that the page is still in use), since it states _We assist with the maintenance and design of Talk pages, such as: *Archiving your page *Adding borders and background colors *Coloring text_If the policy is passed, I’ll volunteer to change the templates so that they comply with the policy. Does anyone else know of any other templates/UIBs, etc. that talk about talkpage designing?
There are a lot of votes there.
