i am curious about what traditions and celebrations people have in cultures other than english, but you can comment your tradition if your english too, maybe you have a special family tradition?.

Next week in New Zealand, on the 6th of February is Waitangi Day. Waitangi Day is a public holiday in New Zealand. I won’t exaplin any more about it in case it’s not the sort of tradition or celebration you were looking for comments on.

its fine, i’ll be celebrating it too

hi Kammy, oh no! I totally forgot you are in NZ too! You must of felt like telling me to bore off! Happy Waitangi Day for the 6th then. Since we came to NZ my little family of just me and my other half have really changed our Christmas traditions. I got rid of all my winter related Christmas tree decorations and noe put sparkly items on our Christmas tree and use bright colours like orange and lime gran rather than red and dark green like is traditional in England. We don’t have an English toast Christmas dinner anymore either, we have BBQ steaks and chargrilled veggies. We try to go to the beach too. We still watch the Queens Speech though.

haha, i wish i could have a Christmas like the english do, the snow would be awesome and i like the colours

I like summer Christmas now I’m used to it. I struggle more with Autumn Easter! And, it actually hardly snows at Christmas in England these days.:frowning:

There’s Chinese new year coming up, Valentine’s day…I don’t do much for either one. Maybe I should for the former. I’m not very festive:stuck_out_tongue:
