I recently created a Welcome Template designed to welcome users. Please comment if you consider this as spam. I won’t do this to almost every EDIT: new wikiHow user. Here’s the link to the template: http://www.wikihow.com/Template:Sappires/Welcome
Tell me what you think of it! Needs more editing?

If you have any questions about wikiHow, come and ask me!
Ask you? Maybe you won’t know the answer of the question. You might want to write: If you have any questions about wikiHow, ask me, an admin, or on the help team.
And add links to the admins page and the help page. From the general look (my opinion), it might need more editing. “Our goal is to answer all of the How To’s imaginable”. A bit complicated. Our goal is to answer all of the How To’s imaginable —>Our goal is to build the world’s highest how-to manual.
Thanks for the advice @Love2
I’ll start fixing it.

I just finished editing the new version. Needs more editing, or it’s fine the way it is.

I did some editing (if you don’t mind). A bit copyediting. Well, let’s see others’ suggestions.
I don’t mind. But thanks for helping me with my template!

I kind of <3 the first version, and I really liked @Love2
’s suggestions. If I see it now, I would be happy to give you some pointers.
Thanks, @Sappires
!
Sapphires, remember we have a bot to welcome new users…We kind of outlawed welcome templates, it could get confusing to a new member to see two people. However, if you see they need help, that would be a time to leave a personalized message. =) June Days
Hi @Sappires
- lovely as it is, I think it’s probably best if you leave the welcoming to the bot, since that means that the message always comes from an experienced editor who knows how to answer any questions that come their way. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the automatic welcome’s wording, however, that would be much appreciated - I’m sure you have plenty of ideas
Ok @Busbyhead
Thanks for all the info!! Thanks CiCi Sorry for the late replies, I’m busy studying…

I think you have a template for welcoming. {{June/W}}? Then, I think you shouldn’t use it, too. As you said, it might confuse the new editors
If you ever found someone who is confused, still, no need to use template. Just write a personal message.
^ I use it for a resource if people ask me a question and no one else is around…It’s what I always say; I’m just too lazy to always type it out.

Same. Really lazy to type anything. But I just keep pressing on myself to write. However, 50.1% that each new member might have different questions. That’s why I don’t recommend using templates. They might think that we are computers even if we told them that we aren’t!
