Welcome to another wikiHaus Lab update! Here’s what’s new for February 25th:

:newspaper: wikiHow in the Media:The wikiHow team has been busy writing some content for different platforms. Halle has already published two articles on Medium this year that focus on fun wikiHow topics. Feel free to check them out and give them some “claps”! What The World Learned in 2020, According to wikiHow , along with The Top 10 Dating Mistakes You’re Probably Making, According to wikiHow’s Dating Experts .

:rocket: You may have noticed:The team has launched a new feature for wikiHow Pro membership by combining our wikiHow courses into the membership. This is a way to take supplemental content that we’ve already created and expand our membership offering.
You can check out all of the courses that are included here and see the call-out for courses in the menu under “Explore”.
As always, if you’d like access to the membership as an active wikiHowian, just email me on jayne@wikihow.com and I’ll get you hooked up!

:rocket: You may have noticed:The Approve Questions tool is back up again!

:star: Coming up:The team is going to start gauging interest in different features like favoriting articles, saving for later, adding collections, and creating collections that you could return to at a later date, or share with others. For now, the test will be the same as how the ‘like’ and ‘comment’ feature was tested - with no actual functionality just yet!

That sounds cool! I think that would be nice to have. Also, is the like feature working now?

And, I think I’ve ask this before, but I forgot the answer, and I was thinking about it recently. Are there any plans for the “User Completed Images” section that used to be on articles before the MediaWiki upgrade, or has it been removed permanently?

This would be amazing for the general readership! I get asked occasionally from people how they can do this exact thing, and I know if someone who isn’t active in the community finds their way to my talk page to ask the question then there are a lot of anonymous readers who are likely looking for the same thing. It will be exciting to see if this comes to fruition.

I tried, and I can like a photo now! I can’t comment tho, cw for the new updatee!

Lol let’s wait that for the next Community Achievements.  :P

I was wondering, I know if you “like” a photo then the like button will turn color and the number beside it will +1, but since you can’t comment, why are there numbers beside the comment button?

Oops… where is my brain:stuck_out_tongue:

Lol.

I don’t think the ‘like’ feature is live just yet, so the numbers next to the like and comment options are arbitrary at the moment - but the goal is to show how many likes or comments there are on the step. When there is a number that shows the number of comments, people are probably more likely to click on it to see what the comments are, which helps data collection when gauging interest:slight_smile:

I haven’t heard anything about the User Completed Images, so I don’t think there are plans for it at the moment, but I’ll keep you posted if that changes.

Yes! I always have an article that I want to come back to and that’ll be helpful!

Ooh, maybe I went wrong somewhere…

I think on a side note we should encourage readers to fix the problem themselves if they downvote an article. There could be a question that says “Is this a problem that you can fix easily?” and then clicking on “Yes” opens up the wiki editor.
