This article is about How to Not Get Caught Smoking. Not only does this article support minors smoking, but it says NOTHING about the dangers and consequences of smoking cigarettes. And how ironic is this: It says “It is illegal for someone to give cigarettes to a minor, so either get them from someone who won’t tell or steal them.” Right, because stealing is so much less illegal than selling drugs to minors. Second, (something that really makes no sense at all to me) the point of this article is to give advice on how NOT to get caught smoking, yet it has clear photos of this guy smoking cigarettes that are now online for the world to see. Come on! Every person that has commented on the article agrees that it should be deleted and it doesn’t even have an NFD. Am I missing something?
This hasn’t been deleted as an NFD hasn’t been placed on it. The votes for deletion (post-2008, when it survived a NFD) aren’t serving any current purpose. If you see a reason for deletion based upon our Deletion Policy then you could add one. Note: wikiHow is real-world based, and for adults to use. You will find a smoking category here.

Adding to what Dave said, there are other reasons to not get caught smoking (in work, or in an anti-smoking relative’s house) that arent related to minors. If its the content that is causing offense, feel free to edit to make it more adult-specific. I can try to edit it tomorrow if I get the time. If you still believe the article is offensive, or in someway promoting illegal activity, you can still tag it with an NFD for review.
I agree with what you are saying. Any reference to minors smoking is irresponsible as well as illegal. My first suggestion would be: In regard to what Whoze said, you could update the article to clear out the references to minors. You are an editor, and you have that right. Second suggestion: Add an nfd and see what the consensus decides.
For the record: It is illegal to SELL cigarettes to minors. Nothing else… It is not illegal for a minor to smoke cigarettes or for a parent or guardian to provide cigarettes to a minor (In Canada anyway… I would assume the USA is similar)
Well, in the US, you aren’t allowed to buy cigarettes for
minors, and I imagine the rule would extend to parents/guardians. I don’t know much about the law, though.
One tip: don’t smoke. I think it is truly disgusting, and I’d never smoke. Plus, I have severe asthma, and a problem which means I instantly faint when I get to hot, I smell ciggarette/cigar/druggie smoke, I have a cold shower, I have a hot shower, I stand up after a long time etc, which just put me off further.

Actually, no. For anyone to provide cigarettes to a minor is illegal. Smoking by minors is illegal in most places in the US.

First time I heard that. All this time I thought it was only purchasing and maybe providing, not possession of. On school boundaries, yes, it is illegal possession-wise. But nothing as on the same grounds as marijuana, which is illegal either go-around.
There are several articles that involve doing something that you really shouldn’t. But the thing is, that’s what people need the help with the most. Why? Because we are people, meant to do something good for the world. If we want to stray from this, it may take a little bit of work. Despite common belief, we are hard-wired to make the right choices, and in this way can be tricked into making the wrong choices. If you want to keep smoking secret, that’s fine with me. I don’t think it is right, but I’m not doing it, nor do I know anyone who does. Any questions?

State law governs over smoking…so smoking by minors might be illegal in some states but not in others. Around here it’s illegal to sell to a minor, illegal for a minor to buy, and illegal for a minor to misrepresent his/her age. Use isn’t illegal, nor is mere possession…unless on school property in which case both use and possession are illegal. It’s just going to depend entirely on state law, and even more on national/country law. On a whole, when considering US law in addition to the law of all of the countries wikiHow is provided to, I don’t think you could consider use or possession of tobacco to be universally illegal…
