What are some believeable excuses to not hang out
I'm really not feeling like leaving my house this weekend, but I already made plans to go to a party. I don't want it to sound like I'm flaking out, so what are the best excuses not to go out?

A good excuse not to hang out with someone is just letting them know that you're feeling exhausted and that you need some time to yourself. If you want to play it up even more, tell the other person that you're sick or that something came up unexpectedly that keeps you from coming, like your family came for a visit or that you accidentally double-booked yourself.

I agree that honesty is the best policy so you don't get caught up in a lie later on. Most of my friends understand when I need a night to myself to recharge, so it doesn't hurt to just tell them that. I'd just recommend offering a time to reschedule so your friends don't get hurt that you're bailing on them.

I usually say a family emergency came up and that I need to go help them, or that I need time to myself afterwards. Most people don't ask many more questions or details after that, so it's been a go-to for me.
Now if you say that to really close friends, they're going to check in and make sure everythings okay, so just be careful who you're telling.

Family emergency.
I'm not feeling good.
I'm busy.
Grounded.
Grandparents (or any other family relatives) are around.
