  • Question
What do I do if I'm running against someone who's better than me when trying to become class president?
    Community Answer
They're not "better than you." Draw attention to the differences between the two of you, particularly in your platform (the way you will handle the issues). Focus on your best qualities. Tell people how you plan to be a good class president and how your background has prepared you for the role. Stay positive. If you're down on yourself, it will be really hard to convince others to vote for you.
  • Question
Can the class president be a joker?
    Community Answer
You can be a joker, but you have to know when and how to buckle down and get serious to get things done.
  • Question
If the class president changes schools, who takes that office: the class vice president or the loser of the presidential office?
    Community Answer
There will probably be another election. If not, the vice president would take their place.
  • Question
How can I take away homework?
    Community Answer
You probably can't. Homework helps you learn, so the school will not be in favor of getting rid of it. Homework would be outside of your powers as class president.
  • Question
How can I become class president if I'm not allowed to use posters or advertisements?
    Community Answer
You can try to connect to people and be nice to them. Be friendly to everyone, and remind people to vote for you.
  • Question
What do I do as a class president?
    Community Answer
You should try to do what you said you would do in your speech, or try to do things you think would be good for your class. Your goal should be to improve student life, and work together with teachers to reach those goals.
  • Question
What do I need to include in a class president speech?
    Community Answer
Open with an intro that captures the audience's attention, then outline what you will do to make your class better, and conclude with asking for the student's votes.
  • Question
How do I run against a friend when becoming class president without hurting the friendship?
    Community Answer
Be respectful of your opponent and focus on your strengths, rather than their weaknesses.
  • Question
I tried being class president 5 times before, and I only got 3 votes. How can I win my next election without campaigns?
    Community Answer
If you've done it 5 times before, you have to really think about what you might have done wrong so you can try to fix your mistakes. It sounds like maybe people just don't know you very well, so make sure you get out and talk to a lot of people. Introduce yourself and get to know everyone. Tell them you're running for president and tell them why they should vote for you. Make a good impression!
  • Question
Can a class president quiet down a classroom?
    Community Answer
It's possible, but if the teacher is in the classroom you should let the teacher do it.
