Try to pick your cherries a little earlier, before they are able to easily blow off the tree. You can also build a wind break on the windiest side of your tree.
  • Question
Why do my cherries only grow to the size of a pea?
    Intergalactic Squeaky Toy
    Community Answer
Your tree is still immature; the cherries don't grow very big until roughly 15 years.
  • Question
What type of insects will get on these plants and how do you prevent them?
    Intergalactic Squeaky Toy
    Community Answer
Ants, mostly, depending upon were you live. Although birds aren't an insect, they eat cherries as well. To prevent ants, buy a pesticide that you can spray at the base of your tree.
  • Question
Do I need to get two trees, or are they self-pollinating?
    Community Answer
Depends on the breed of tree. You can Google self-pollinating trees, or a nursery/tree catalog will mention if they require another tree to pollinate, and if so, what breed the second tree would have to be.
  • Question
Why do most of my cherries drop off the tree before they are ripe?
    Community Answer
It could be that they are too heavy. If they are not, then put a sheet underneath your tree to collect the falling fruit.
