Yes, any kind of yarn should work fine.
  • Question

  • Question
What if I don't have yarn or fluffy stuff?
    Jerry Xu
    Community Answer
You could maybe use cotton balls or pieces of an old mattress. Maybe tear up tissue paper of the desired color and glue them back together.
  • Question
How do I attach this to my fursuit?
    Community Answer
You should use fabric glue, hot glue, or velcro to attach your tail to your costume.
  • Question
If I don't have a dog brush, is there something else I can use?
    Community Answer
A fine-tooth comb works well and fluffs up the fur. I suggest starting at the end of the fur and going up, gently and slowly.
  • Question
How do I make my tail poseable?
    Community Answer
I have used pipe cleaners, which work fairly well. Slide a pipe cleaner into the tail and hot-glue it to the inside. I suggest doing it before it is sewed. (I don't know if this will affect a sewing machine, as I hand-stitch).
  • Question
Can I wear this to school in the 5th grade?
    Community Answer
Probably not. Check your school's dress code or ask your teacher to be sure.
  • Question
Is it possible to insert a wire in the tail before sewing in Method One?

  • Question
Can l use old white fur and then color it?
    MistyFurry
    Community Answer
Yes, you can! Buy some clothing dye. (Food coloring washes out.) Follow the directions for dilution, and soak the fur in the dye solution.
  • Question
How do you make it have a tip or multi coloured?
    Luna Oreo
    Community Answer
Going from top to bottom of the tail, switch out the yarn to make it a different color.
  • Question
Can we make the tail multiple lengths, or can it only be one?
    Luna Oreo
    Community Answer
If you mean by fur size it is recommended for all the tufts to be one single size for even-ness but I am sure you can cut the lengths a certain way if you want. If you mean multiple tails of multiple lengths, why not? If your animal has multiple tails, there is no reason not to have multiple tails.
  • Question
Are these the only ways for a Therian tail to be created?
    Luna Oreo
    Community Answer
Technically, yes, because a lot of therians and furries suggest this method (including myself) but there are other ways like getting a tail from roadkill and properly cleaning it.
  • Question
Where is the best place to buy yarn?
    Community Answer
Any sewing-supply or craft store should have it. Also, Etsy and Amazon online.

    Luna Oreo
    Community Answer
A bell loop or a bigger sized lobster claw keychain thingy that you can get online (e.g. Amazon).
  • Question
Does this tail work as Therian gear?
    Community Answer
Many Therians use this as gear because it is so easy to find the contents to make it and to produce the final thing.
  • Question
How do I make it stand up instead of hanging down?
    Puggy love
    Community Answer
Add something that supports it like wire. But most likely you'll want this wire to be on the inside of the tail.

Yes, but maybe the tangles won't be fully removed if not removed by a dog brush.
  • Question
I don't know if the yarn I have is acrylic and I don't have the receipts. Is there any way I can tell if it's acrylic or not?
    jes nemo
    Community Answer
A lot of times you can just tell from the price you paid. Usually it's the cheaper yarns but depending on your project, it doesn't matter so much what kind of yarn it is, just as long as it's the right thickness of what you ultimately want.
