I found the moral of my story, but I can't find a resolution for the problems of my characters?

It is not always necessary for there to be a resolution. A moral can teach a lesson, even if that involves failure or unresolved problems. For example, in the tortoise and the hare, things do not work out for the hare and that is the lesson that is taught - to not underestimate and become cocky.
