After Submitting an Appeal

  1. You’ll need to wait for a response. That can take weeks or even months. The final result will be one of the following:
    • Appeal accepted: If your appeal is accepted, your ban will be overturned and you will be allowed to play again. However, you need to be extra careful to follow the rules and not repeat any violations. Repeated violations will be less likely to be overturned.
    • Appeal Rejected: If your appeal is rejected, then your ban still stands. You cannot regain access to your account and it is unlikely there is anything you can do to regain access. You can try to create a new account, but you will need to be careful to follow the rules and not repeat any violations. Repeated violations may result in your IP address getting banned, or getting banned from purchasing future Activision games.
    • Further investigation needed: If Activision replies and informs you that they need to investigate further, they may ask you to provide further evidence. You will need to continue to be polite and provide whatever they request.

  1. Limited matchmaking (also known as a ”Shadowban” ) is when your account is put into a limited matchmaking state for online games. You can only be paired with other players that are in a limited matchmaking state. This limits the number of players you can play with and places you up against other players who have engaged in hacking, cheating, or toxic behaviour.
  2. A temporary ban is when you have been banned from playing for a limited amount of time. This can be anywhere from 48 hours to 2 weeks or longer. The time you are banned depends the severity of the infraction.
    • Activision says they do not appeal temporary bans. However, you can still try to appeal your suspension.
  3. A permanent ban is when you have been banned from playing the game indefinitely. This is generally reserved for severe or repeated infractions. In some cases permanent bans may apply across titles, including past, present, and future Call of Duty games. In some cases, you may even be banned from purchasing a Call of Duty game in the future.
