Logging out of Facebook after each session can help protect your account from others, and this can be done in a few simple steps. If you forgot to log out of a public or shared computer, you can even use the Facebook security settings to log out remotely; you'll just need your account information. This wikiHow will show you how to log out of Facebook using your computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Things You Should Know

  • On mobile, tap "☰. " Scroll down and tap "Log out." Tap "Log out" again to confirm.
  • On a computer, click your profile picture in the top-right corner. Click "Log out."
  • To log out remotely, open "Password & security" settings. Click "Where you're logged in" to select a device to log out of.

    It could be any number of things, but a good first step to recovering it would be to shut down your computer completely (CTRL + ALT + DEL) and restart it after a few minutes.

    Close the app and try again. If that doesn't work, try restarting your device. If you really need to log out, delete Facebook and re-download it. This should be used as a last resort.

    Is there a way to log out of Facebook without scrolling all the way up to the top of the page to the drop down menu?

    Closing it, then reopening is a quick and easy way to reach the top again, removing the need to scroll back up. Pressing the "Home" button will also cause your browser to scroll all the way up to the top.
