  • Question
Can I use canned quail eggs?
    Community Answer
Yes. The consistency is different but they work just fine.
  • Question
Can I use white vinegar instead of rice vinegar?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can. Rice vinegar gives a distinguished taste to the sauce, but white vinegar is also used.
  • Question
It is okay to make this without cornstarch?
    Nina Patrcia Javier
    Community Answer
Yes, I usually use a plain flour and it works fine. It doesn't really matter because the most important part is that the eggs are evenly coated when they are deep fried.
  • Question
Every time I cook this, the coating doesn't form evenly. What could I do?
    Nina Patrcia Javier
    Community Answer
Ensure that you use a spoon to scoop and distribute the batter evenly. My coat doesn't cover totally my boiled eggs after deep frying them, so after I fry the eggs in the first batch, I just have to 're-coat' them again and deep fry it until all the areas of eggs are covered.
  • Question
    Can I use normal eggs?
    Nina Patrcia Javier
    Community Answer
Of course, the taste will be just the same. The big eggs always refer to 'Tokneneng' while the fried quailed battered eggs are known as 'Kwek Kwek'.
