Cut them back close to the ground, leaving about an inch above ground. Once the last freeze goes and it starts to warm up, you will see your hibiscus start to get taller, and then beautiful blooms again.

My blooms tend to only last a day. Is there something I can do to help them last longer?

They are naturally 1-2 day blooms. Fertilizing with a high potassium fertilizer weekly during spring and summer will provide new blooms every day to replace spent blooms.
