If you've got a Bosch SilencePlus 50 dBA dishwasher installed in your home, you've probably noticed the sanitize setting and wondered how to use it. The sanitize setting heats water to 155°F (68.3°C) which kills about 99.9% of bacteria on dishes. It can be very helpful when you are sick.

  1.  This can usually be done by pressing the On/Off button.
    • It will not work with the Delicate and Express Wash cycles.  This is because the high bacteria killing temperatures could damage delicates and it takes a while for the sanitization to complete.

  2. The Sanitize light should light up.
    • If this doesn't happen, you should refer to the original appliance manual for specific instructions.
  3.  This makes the water in the pipes to the dishwasher already hot so the dishwasher can begin the cycle immediately.

The Takeaway: Bosch Dishwasher Sanitization

The “sanitizing” feature increases the water temperature so it's hot enough to kill most bacteria and germs. To use it, choose a wash cycle, press the "Sanitize" button, and hit the "Start" button to begin the cycle. Once the cycle is complete, the "Sanitized" light will be lit up.

      • When removing items from the dishwasher after cycle completion, the hot temperatures could burn you.
