We seem to have a rash of “Be Like” articles. Some of which have been edited/improved by long time, and respected admins. I’m just wondering what I’m missing. Are we still standing by our character articles standards? Maybe there is something I’m not understanding?

A whole slieu of them are ending up currently in the NFD Guardian. I just started to see them early this morning, but they could have been in the app since late in the day Friday night. There are some that are still coming through, but ever so slowly now.

They are in the NFD.

@Byanko1 They are still coming…and clogging up the NFD Guardian…

We’ve had this discussion several times in the past… each time, the consensus has been to delete the “be like” articles and keep articles along the lines of “Look like” or “dress like” instead. As I recall, the salient points of the discussion trended along the following lines: -No one can BE another person. Advice to this end is pointless and seems to indicate that you are not worthy of notice unless you act/dress/BE a certain way. -Someone can LOOK like another person though… dress like them… do their hair like them… Cosplay as them…etc. -“Be Like” articles tend to be written by less mature authors who want to write, but find that a lot of the easy “low hanging fruit” topics have already been written. -“Be Like” articles tend to undermine a readers self confidence rather than build it up… the underlying message is “you’re not good enough unless you copy someone else.” So… perhaps it’s time to remind ourselves that it’s okay to NFD these on Character standards… The code is {{nfd|cha}}
