So I have a big decision to make and I don’t know what to do! I’m homeschooled and I have been homeschooled for about 3 years. I have been to school before but quit in the 7th grade. Through homeschooling I found a Best Friend, now my only friend. We don’t live near each other. We live in different states, but we Skype every night. Now my mom said I should go to school for high school next year because their is a lot their that I cant learn at home or online. Also I want to have a fashion designing career and there is a special place called Boces I can go in high school to start learning about it for college. If I’m homeschooled it is over $3000 for it, but if I go to high school its free. Also I just quit girl scouts and my mom doesn’t want me to stay home all day. I asked my best friend (Samantha) about it and she doesn’t get it. She said that a lot of homeschoolers go to college and I don’t need to go to boces, but I am so much more likely to get accepted into a college. I think she doesn’t want me to go to school because shes homeschooled and she doesn’t want me to replace her, even though id never do that! Please help!
Hey,
You mentioned the cost of homeschool (which is high). You are very clear about your career path and what you want to study further. Hence, it seems about alright to go to school and then ‘Boces’. Your friend may or may not be wondering about you replacing her. As you mentioned, may be she does not understand exactly how important it is for you, which is forgivable right?
This is what I would say. You may wait for more feedback or choose what you believe in.
Good luck with your studies and friendship.

I’d go for it if that’s what yo really want. Keep Skyping her to let her know you haven’t replaced her, and if you do make new friends (which I highly encourage) try not to talk about them to her too much, as that may spark jealousy, which is never a healthy element in any relationship.
She’s right. I’d do it if I were you
