I’ve noticed that the B/VI category has been growing a lot (special thanks to @WikihowSaver !), and I think it might be time to break it up a bit for easier navigation and reduced scrolling.

My proposal is that we separate the articles for blind/visually impaired people from the ones for their loved ones and acquaintances. We’ve done this in the past with the autism articles. But if anyone has a different idea of how to sort them, feel free to say so!

Absolutely love the idea. =) I’ve been thinking of a sub category for these articles lately since the category is growing, but couldn’t think of a good enough sub. This is a great idea.

Gee, where’d all those votes come from? Well, I guess it has to become a category then!

This would be a really great category to have. It’s about time that our disability categories get enough articles to warrant subcategories, and the category is starting to need some organization!

Yeah,absolutely right!

I was about to comment with my support too when I realized that I was the one who suggested the idea in the first place. Oops.:stuck_out_tongue:

Also, on the super-long category title: Would “Interacting with Blind/VI People” be a good alternative? Would it be fairly obvious what the acronym means, since it’s spelled out in the parent category and some article titles? Or is it confusing?

I think that would be pretty straightforward really, I don’t find it confusing personally. However, I know a lot of people know more about this topic than I do, so I’ll tag @WikihowSaver and ask for her thoughts:stuck_out_tongue:

My main concern (and the thing that I’m surprised I didn’t notice with the original category request) is that the slash may potentially cause problems with the categorizing system and the category tree. I recall Flickety saying something about certain characters causing issues in the tree - I think that’s the same reason we try to avoid accents and oddly-capitalized category names. We’d have to drop the slash in favor of an “and” (or use “&”, which doesn’t seem to cause issues, but could potentially confuse editors with the inconsistency).

Yes, I know that the actual question was about whether the name should be shortened, and that I went on a tangent…

This has been added to the update list. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re the slash, you’re right, it won’t be used.
