The little “1” that says I have 1 new message refuses to disappear, even after looking at the message. I have Google Chrome on a Mac. It started with Hannahbandy’s talk page notification, and persisted after I got another one from a thumbs up.

That happened to me yesterday when I received two thumbs up. I think you have to check the article and view the edit. It’s ridiculous.

Except it was originally from a talk page message notification, so that wouldn’t make sense.

Sometimes this happens if you received more than the 5 notifications that show in your dropdown list, so you haven’t seen them all. Try going to http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Notifications and if necessary clicking to view more for a page or two. If there’s anything bold/unseen in there, that’d be the culprit! Once you’ve seen it there, your red notifications should go back to normal. Let me know if it works!
