Changing Your Gmail Password

  1. Select your profile photo in Gmail.
  2. Select "Manage your Google account."
  3. Select "Personal info" → "Password".

    • Changing your Gmail password also changes your password in all other Google services, such as Google Drive and Google Photos.

  1. Go to https://myaccount.google.com in a web browser. This is the Google sign-in page. If you're already signed in, your account settings will appear. If not, follow the on-screen instructions to sign in now.

    • For best security practices, sign out of Google on all your devices, and then use the new password to log in again.

Resetting a Forgotten Password

  1. Go to https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery in a web browser. This is Google's account recovery website. You can access this site in any web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet.
    • You can also click Forgot password? on the Google sign-in page.
  2. Since you don't know your password, you'll need to use one of Google's recovery methods.
    • The method of account verification will vary. You'll see instructions on the screen.
  3. If you're instructed to use the Gmail app, open it on the requested device. You'll receive a pop-up in the app. Tap Yes, it's me to confirm. On your browser, you should be able to change your password or log in without changing it.
    • If you don't have the device, tap Try another way .
  4. An email with a verification code will be sent to your listed recovery email. If you don't remember your recovery email, you can find the first three letters of the email above the code field. Find the email in the recovery account, and enter the code. You should now be able to change your password.

  5. Google will send a verification code to the phone number connected to your Gmail account. Enter the code into the field, and tap Next . You can now change your password.
  6. After verifying your identity through the above methods, you'll see a button to update your password.
