  • Question
How do you get the dull coating off of fresh blueberries?
    Caeiia
    Top Answerer
They are normal yeast blooms, and aren't easily removed. Soaking in soap and scrubbing gently should work if you really want to get rid of it, though it's not harmful.
  • Question
Do you have to wash the blueberries in vinegar? It seems a bit overkill.
    Community Answer
No, it isn't essential but if your blueberries are not organic, it is better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to eat pesticides.
  • Question
Could I wash the whole box at one time, or should I wash as needed?
    Mia Zellmer
    Community Answer
You can wash a whole box as long as there is an opening for the water to flow through. Otherwise, just put them into a bowl and rinse and drain a few times.
  • Question
I've rinsed one minute in colander, but there's still just as much grit. Any ideas?
    CHRIS C
    Community Answer
Put the blueberries into a large bowl of water, swish them around, then scoop out with a slotted spoon.
  • Question
If the blueberry has a white color, then what does that mean?
    Torpi
    Top Answerer
A white color means the blueberry is underripe (if it's white and smooth) or moldy (if it's white and fuzzy). Either way, it should not be eaten. If they're underripe and still on the blueberry bush, leave them there until they ripen.
  • Question
Could you be allergic to pesticides sprayed on blueberries?
    Otterly Badgerific
    Top Answerer
It is possible, but you would need to test your hypothesis by eating blueberries from an organic source, just to be certain it's not the blueberries themselves causing a reaction. If you have any concerns, stick to organically grown blueberries.
