If pressing the button on the outside edge of the CD holder doesn't work, you can try to open it with a screw driver or a knife. There should also be a way to access that drive in your computer and click the "eject" option.

CD player will play a disc, but will not advance to the next track. How do I fix that? The player is part of an AM-FM-CD radio.

Take it to an audio specialist, and have them remove the player and install the one of your choice at the same place. Some players don't have that advance button to change the mechanism. The player only has a one track mind!
