Please be patient, as some of the pictures are actually mini looped videos and will take longer to load than a still photo.
  • Question
Are these the only types of butterflies that I can make with paper?
    Community Answer
No, you can get creative and make any type of butterfly that you wish.
  • Question
What should be the size of the paper?
    T. Chinsen
    Top Answerer
Origami paper comes in 4" (10 cm) and 6" (15 cm) squares. You can make your own square of paper from a standard piece of paper so it would be 8.5" (21.5 cm) square. Use whatever size you have available. So long as the paper is square, you can make the butterfly in the article.
  • Question
When I finished your origami butterfly, it did not look like a butterfly; the bottom wings were too small, even though I followed all your steps correctly. What's wrong?
    T. Chinsen
    Top Answerer
If you made the pleated origami butterfly, the wings are two different sizes. The top wings are folded across the paper length, while the lower wings are along the narrower side. If you want both wings to be the same, use the same folding pattern on both pieces of paper. There are no hard-and-fast rules on what combinations to put together.
