    Community Answer
Any type of LPs or 12-inch records. Most records from the 60's to today will be this type.
  • Question
What happens if you leave the record player on/turning after the record is done? Does it damage anything to just leave it turning?
    Community Answer
No, it won't damage anything. Some record players even automatically stop after a record is done playing.
  • Question
We have a vinyl player but when we spin the record and place the needle on the vinyl, the arm goes to the end and returns to position. How do we fix this?
    Community Answer
You need to wipe down your vinyls with a microfiber cloth, or get a new needle.
  • Question
What kind of stereo should I get to plug turntables into?
    Community Answer
You can get some great component pieces or get an all-in-one (receiver) with a tuner, amp and pre-amp built-in on Ebay. S.A.E. (Scientific Audio Electronics) is a USA made brand that is high end with a low price ($200 or less should get a decent receiver). You will be able to plug a turntable in via RCA 1/8" cables, hook up your speakers and enjoy your vinyl.
  • Question
When I drop the tone arm onto the record, the table stops rotating. What am I doing wrong?
    Community Answer
There might be too much weight on the record, or you might need to get a new needle.
  • Question
Why doesn't my record sound normal on the correct speed?
    Community Answer
If you have a pitch selector knob, return it to 0. Mine zeroes in the "12 o' clock" position.
  • Question
How do I get my turntable to play the records until the end without the tone arm lifting up?
    Community Answer
This means your turntable is automatic. You could try to adjust the auto-return on your turntable. There's usually a screw at the bottom of the turntable that can be used to adjust where the tone arm returns automatically. Some turntables have the option to turn the option off completely.
  • Question
Does the record have to be spinning to place the needle or could I place the needle and then turn on the platter when operating a turntable?
    Community Answer
For most record players the record should be spinning. Once it’s spinning, then you should lower the needle.
  • Question

You would need to lift the needle from the record and then set it back down at the start of the next song you wanted to play.
  • Question
The record slows down, then goes normal, then slows down, etc. Why and what can I do?

This usually occurs because the motor that is powering the turntable needs to be replaced or it could be that the motor isn't getting enough power to spin properly.
