I've always used fishing line to take off emblems. I actually carry 3 grades, from really fine to the stronger stuff. Then, you just have to remove the sticky residue by spraying it with a strong all-purpose cleaner and scraping it carefully in from the edges with a razor blade.
  • Question
Does this works with model cars?
    Community Answer
In some cases yes, in others no. It depends on the tolerance of the paint. A model car's paint will not have the same clear coat and enamel paint as a car does, so it can be more easily damaged by harsh abrasion or chemicals. I would first try to use soapy water and a toothpick or other slightly sharp object.
  • Question
The emblems left a stain on the paint. How do I get this off?
    Giovanni Agazzi
    Community Answer
Heating up the emblem with a heat gun or a blow dryer loosens up the adhesive behind the emblem. Then taking either dental floss or some fishing line, run it between the emblem and the vehicle moving it in a up and down motion. Once you have removed the emblem from the vehicle, there will be leftover glue residue on the car, take a clean rag (not paper towel) with Goo Gone on it and rub in a circular motion until the glue clumps up on the rag and vehicle. Then take a dry rag and slowly wipe off the glue clumps. Repeat Goo Gone and dry rag step until adhesive is fully removed from the car.

Older adhesives can be removed best with a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the glue. Use a plastic putty knife to gently pry it away from the vehicle. Avoid using metal tools to prevent scratching the paint.

To remove the back door logo from your 2012 Lexus RX450h, you will need a heat gun, dental floss, a drill, and a gunk-removing pad from a local hardware store. First, use the heat gun on a low setting to warm the logo area gently. Once the adhesive starts to soften, run the floss between the logo and the car to peel it off. Finally, use the gunk-removing pad and drill to polish off any remaining adhesive.
