QuestionWill the code work with an RDS-type radio?Community AnswerNo, the RDS radios are programmed to read the vehicle's VIN from the BCM (Body Control Module). If it is moved to a different vehicle or a different BCM is installed, it will "see" a different VIN and lock. It will have to be reprogrammed to the new vehicle's VIN using a Tech II programmer. BCMs can only be programmed one time, and should not be moved from vehicle to vehicle. Not too many places other than GM dealers have the Tech II programmers.

QuestionI am not installing a radio in another vehicle, but in a boat. Will I still need to unlock the radio?Community AnswerNo. It will work normally, just like when the radio is unlocked until the vehicle is cranked. It won't lock because it's not looking at the VIN of the vehicle.

QuestionHow do I unlock my GM Theftlock radio if none of my combinations are working?Community AnswerYou have to go to the dealership or find someone with a computer scanner with the GM/Chevy codes. It will be tied into your VIN #, and if you put a used one in, it will be keyed to the old VIN # on the other vehicle. It won't work if it has been used in another car and will say LOCKED. It will have to be reprogrammed.
