Learn some classical stuff. It doesn't matter if you're a metal player, a rock and roll player, or anything else—learn the classical stuff because it is difficult on a different level, even if it's a simple song. Also, take everything slow. Never rush into a new learning process. If you want to improve on something, always take it slow because if you can play it slow, you can play it fast. It's all muscle memory, especially in guitar.
  • Question
I want my song to be absolutely perfect, but can't come up with anything good, no matter how hard I try. What am I doing wrong?
    Community Answer
The first thing you need to know is that your song will probably not be perfect; nobody and nothing is perfect. It often takes even professionals many months to write a song. However, here are some tips: Try writing the melody and the lyrics separately, you can either choose to write the words, then come up with a tune for them, or you can choose a chord progression you like and then write words to it. Choose a topic that you are passionate about and that inspires you and the process will be a lot easier.
  • Question
Does the song need to be about something I've actually been through, or can it be about something I've never experienced?
    Community Answer
A good song can be about anything, whether it's something you've experienced or not, as long as the lyrics make sense and the song has a catchy tune.
  • Question
When I try to write a “Love Song” it sounds cringe to me. So I usually write darker music because it’s easier for me. I’m a Christian and I don’t think my family would approve. Is this a bad thing?
    Community Answer
Love music is harder to write than dark music, usually. Most musicians lean in the middle, and you might like to try doing that too. Try to slowly start to lean towards the happier and more upbeat side of the spectrum, sort of like some pop rock bands.
  • Question
So, for a while now, i have been trying to write a live song for my boyfriend, Angel. I got the tempo, but I just can't seem to come up with any lyrics!! Can you help me to start off?
    Community Answer
Why don't you use a random word generator? It will generate random words and it may help you create lyrics out of them. If you still can't come up with something try a song generator or the best and the most real option. Talk about your real feelings and how you feel about it. The best songs are those with real feelings.
  • Question
Can the song be about my bond with my dog?
    Community Answer
It is your song, so it can be about whatever you want. The best songs are those with real feelings, just like your bond with your dog.
