Bumble is a free app for dating and meeting new friends. You look through a series of profiles; if you are interested in that person, swipe right. If you are not interested, swipe left. Pretty simple right? The best part about this app is that it’s made for the girls! If the girl does not say anything to the person of interest, the match will be lost forever. For same sex relationships or people looking for friends, either person can message the other first, but a 24-hour rule applies. Forever is a long time so Bumble has allowed each person to extend the conversations for 24 hours every day. Setting up an account is easy through Facebook.

QuestionHow do I get the most out of Bumble or dating apps in general?Jeremy Sharvit is a Senior iOS Engineer and App Developer based in San Francisco, CA. Jeremy has over 5 years of experience and most recently launched the app TextWise AI, which helps users elevate their communication in a variety of settings, including dating apps. TextWise AI is compatible with any dating app, including Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder, and was built to provide assistance with crafting message responses and boosting user confidence in conversations. My top tip would be to keep things simple and move things along quickly. From experience and talking with friends that are still active on these apps, one of the most effective strategies is to avoid getting stuck in endless chats. If you’ve matched, it already means there’s some level of interest or attraction, so the hardest part is over. The goal now is to have a bit of a back-and-forth conversation to confirm mutual interest, but you don’t want to stay in that stage for too long. A few playful or meaningful messages are enough—then it’s smart to suggest something casual, like grabbing coffee, meeting for drinks, or even a walk. Meeting face-to-face early on helps you figure out if there’s chemistry, which you just can’t fully gauge through text. At the end of the day, dating is a numbers game. Not everyone will be a match, and that’s okay. The sooner you meet in person, the quicker you’ll know whether there’s something worth exploring, and you can move forward without wasting energy.
Tips
- Logging in through Facebook is much easier than doing it separately. It will use your profile pictures from Facebook, to save you from having to upload more. Thanks
- By allowing Bumble to access your location, it makes it easier for individuals to match with people in their radius. For example, Janet wouldn't want to match with someone in Edmonton when she lives in Calgary. Thanks
- If you allow notifications, the app will notify when you get a message or match. Thanks
Warnings
- Everyone signing up must have the updated version of Facebook to set up an account with Bumble. Thanks
- Signing up for extras will let people see who has already liked the individual, re-matching with expired matches, and adding 24 hours to existing matches. This does cost money, though. Thanks
- If you choose "Don't Allow" for notifications, this could result in a missed connection. Thanks
